Backing up your self-custodial wallet is essential to ensuring your assets are secure and recoverable. Family’s own self-custodial wallet service, Pocket, lets you use an email address or phone number alongside a passkey or password to secure your wallet’s keys. Follow these steps to back up your wallet with Pocket.

How to Backup with an email address (logged-out)

Family Wallet allows you to back up your wallet using your email address. Here’s how:

  1. Tap your wallet, then tap the three dot icon to reveal a drop-down menu.
  2. Tap Wallet Settings.
  3. In your Wallet Settings, select Backup.
  4. Select Pocket.
  5. Enter the email address or phone number you have associated with your Pocket account.
  6. Enter the verification code sent to your email address or phone number.
  7. Use Face ID to sign in.

How to Backup with an email address (logged-in)

If you’re already logged into Pocket, backing up your wallet is even quicker. Here’s how:

  1. Tap your wallet, then tap the three dot icon to reveal a drop-down menu.
  2. Tap Wallet Settings.
  3. In your Wallet Settings, select Backup.
  4. Select Pocket.
  5. A pop-up tray will remind you that this wallet and its associated wallet group will be added to Pocket.
  6. Select Got it.
  7. Your wallet is now backed up with Pocket.
