Pocket is a secure and user-friendly way to create and manage self-custodial wallets using just your email address or phone number along with a passkey or password. It serves as Family's dedicated self-custody account system, letting you easily interact with decentralized applications (dApps) and functioning as a secure backup method for your wallets.
Easy backup with Pocket
Pocket helps secure your assets by making it easy to back up your wallet. Whether you already have a backup, want to create a new one, or are starting from scratch, Pocket provides a straightforward solution to keep your assets safe. For a step-by-step guide, read the Backup your wallet with Pocket guide.
How Pocket works
When you create a new Pocket account, your device generates a new Hierarchical Deterministic (HD) wallet with a 12-word Secret Recovery Phrase. A master key is then derived, which is cryptographically bound to your email or phone number and your chosen passkey or password. This master key is used to encrypt your wallet, creating an encrypted wallet that only you can decrypt.
Security measures
Your master key is secured using industry-standard encryption methods to ensure the highest level of protection. Only the encrypted wallet is transmitted and stored, and it can be decrypted solely with the credentials you provided, which are known only to you. To enhance security, additional safeguards such as device proof of possession and two-factor authentication (2FA) are implemented, requiring access to your email or phone number and knowledge of your passkey or password.
