Family allows you to securely Backup your wallet with iCloud. This means you can store a backup of your wallet to Apple’s secure cloud storage service, iCloud, by encrypting your Secret Recovery Phrase or Private Key. You can change the password for this backup at any time. Updating your iCloud backup password keeps that your wallet data protected, even if you feel the need to enhance your security.
How to change your iCloud backup password if you know your password
This guide will show you how to update the password for your Family iCloud backup if you already know your password. Here’s how:
- Tap the icon at the top left of the Mission Control screen.
- Select Backups & Account.
- Select iCloud Backup Password.
- Enter your current iCloud Backup password in order to change it.
- Choose a strong new password to secure your new iCloud Backup. Select Continue.
- Enter your password again to finish setting up your iCloud Backup. Select Continue.
- You’ve changed your iCloud Backup password.
How to change your iCloud backup password if you forgot your password
If you’ve forgotten your iCloud backup password, Family gives you the option to reset your iCloud Backup by erasing and replacing your old backup entirely. Here’s how:
- Tap the icon at the top left of the Mission Control screen.
- Select Backups & Account.
- Select iCloud Backup Password.
- Select Forgot Password.
- After reading the terms, check the boxes and tap Continue.
- Review the backups currently in your iCloud and tap Continue.
- Select which wallets you’d like to include in your new iCloud Backup and tap Continue.
- Choose a strong new password to secure your new iCloud Backup. Tap Continue.
- Enter your password again to finish setting up your iCloud Backup. Tap Continue.
- You’ve changed your iCloud Backup Password.
