Unwrapping in Family allows you to convert your Wrapped Ether (WETH) back into standard Ether (ETH). This is an important process when you want to use ETH in transactions that do not support WETH. Unwrapping is necessary as some dApps and transactions on the Ethereum network only accept ETH and not WETH. Therefore, having the option to unwrap your WETH ensures you can always participate in all aspects of the Ethereum network without restrictions.
How to unwrap WETH
To unwrap your WETH, open the Swap feature, select WETH as the asset you wish to convert, and select ETH as the asset to receive. Here’s how:
- From the Mission Control page, select the wallet where you hold the WETH you want to swap.
- Tap the
button. - Select Swap, and choose WETH.
- Enter the amount of WETH you want to Unwrap to ETH.
- Choose ETH as the asset to receive and select Continue.
- Review the estimated conversion rate, fee estimate, and the amount you’ll receive. If the details are correct, tap Confirm to proceed.
- Once confirmed, the Swap will begin. In the background, Family will treat the transaction as a standard unwrap, and facilitate the conversion directly within the app.
