If you have a MetaMask wallet and want to switch to Family, you can easily import it using your Secret Recovery Phrase. This process allows you to migrate your assets and continue managing them securely. Follow these steps to import your MetaMask wallet into Family.
How to locate your MetaMask wallet’s Secret Recovery Phrase
Before you begin the import process, ensure you have your MetaMask wallet’s Secret Recovery Phrase ready. Here’s how to locate your MetaMask wallet’s Secret Recovery Phrase:
- In MetaMask, tap the Settings button located on the lower right side of the screen.
- In Settings, choose Security & Privacy.
- In this menu, tap on Reveal Secret Recovery Phrase.
- Tap Get started to answer two questions.
- After you answer them correctly, enter your password and tap Continue.
- Long-press the button that says Hold to reveal SRP until your Secret Recovery Phrase is displayed.
- Write down your Secret Recover Phrase, or copy it to your phone’s clipboard.
How to import a Secret Recovery Phrase to Family
With your Secret Recovery Phrase copied, you can import your wallet into Family. Here’s how:
- Tap the
button on the top right of your Mission Control page. - Select Add Existing.
- Select Import to add your existing MetaMask wallet by Secret Recovery Phrase.
- Input your 12 word Secret Recovery Phrase by pasting from your phone’s clipboard.
- Choose a nickname for your wallet. This name is only visible to you.
- Choose a color for your wallet. You can always edit the color later.
- Choose an avatar for your wallet. You can chose an image from your device, take a photo, use an emoji, or use an icon. After you set a display image, tap Continue.
- Read and agree to the terms on the screen before you continue.
- After you’ve read and agreed to the terms, your MetaMask wallet is now imported to Family.
